How much research has been done on sam-e for pmdd?

Zero published: Some women do use sam-e for pmdd, but so far there is no published clinical research documenting effectiveness. Using it for this condition would be empirical, based on studies showing that sam-e is associated with increased serotonin turnover and elevated Dopamine and norepinephrine levels in the brain. Antidepressants have similar results, and have shown effectiveness in pmdd.
