As last resort!!!: You need to try to keep moving as much as possible. Try water exercises. Get to ideal body weight. Continue on chronic pain medication (tramadol). Maybe physical therapy if you have not already tried.

Impossible to say: i would urge an evaluation with a rheumatologist to determine the causebof the pain and the best treatment options. The are better options than amitriptyline.

FIBROMYALGIA ?: 55y fem. w. widespread pain she ID's as joint pain of "OA". Past metal knee/hip replacements devoid of nerves & not pain generators. Sedentariness from chronic pain & operations is fibromyalgia, FM, co-factor; via lost muscle tone & mass. Aquatherapy, wt. loss, analgesics like Lyrica (pregabalin) & Cymbalta, mindfullness therapies, massage, Acupuncture, Cannabis have helped many. Find Osteopath w. FM interest.

Osteopaths are trained in general medicine & are experts of musculoskeletal functions & disorders. They are adept at diagnosing causes of chronic pain disorders; especially common ones secondary to mundane injuries.
