Hard to know: Diaphragm irritation is an important cause of hiccups that needs to be considered if this is a long-term problem (can be caused by lung, liver, stomach problems to list just a few). Based on just this short description, I would first suspect small abdominal or chest wall muscle strain from the repeated hiccups.
