Saline nasal spray: may help soften and thin the mucous, and help to get it cleared out. It can be used several times a day. Be careful about using any other nasal sprays unless directed by a physician. Mucinex (guaifenesin) (sold over the counter) can also be helpful in thinning and clearing nasal discharge.
