See below: An antibiotic may help the pain and swelling resolve in an infected sebaceous cyst. But the initial treatment usually involves lancing the cyst to let some of the infection drain. Once the infection has resolved the patient can return to have the cyst membrane( wall) removed with local anesthesia.
