Sounds like tonsilli: your description sound like it is viral. suggest warm salt water gargles, and drink a lot of fluids, and suspect it will resolve in a few days. if it persists, or you develop fever or you do get some white patches on the throat/tonsils, then strep needs to be ruled out. there are also other bacteria that can cause a pharyngitis or tonsillitis.
