A member asked:

My cholesterol is low at 99. my ldl and hdl are also both low. hdl 34.6. ldl 46. triglycerides 86. should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No. Low LDL is good.: Try raising HDL. Look for foods with monounsaturated fats (olive oil, etc.). Read up on such foods on nutrition websites. Avoiding sugars and simple starches should help raise HDL (good cholesterol). Fruits have a lot of sugar, and most breads are simple starches. Protein such as chicken breast, pork loin (whiter meat), and tofu can be eaten instead of carbs. Exercising will also raise the HDL.
