A member asked:

I was licked in the lips, licked in the wound (possibly) by a stray cat had its wet fur hit my eye. it was a healthy cat. am i at risk for rabies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cats and rabies: The best thing to do is locate this stray cat and follow its course for 10 days. If the cat remains healthy after 10 days, you will not get rabies. Good that the cat was 'healthy' appearing-that lowers the risk of this exposure to almost zero. WHO classifies this type of exposure as the 'lowest risk' of rabies, and it's extremely unlikely you'll get the disease. See an ID doc though if concerned
