Depends: The successful treatment of this process varies with the location. For most skin surfaces there are topical liquids/lotions available over the counter including lotrimin (clotrimazole). Applied twice daily this will often cure simple ringworm. When the infection is in the scalp or nal, an oral prescription med is often required.

Varies: Treatment for ringworm depends on where the infection is on your body and how serious it is. In many cases, your doctor may recommend a drug which you can buy over-the-counter (OTC) such as Lotrimin. If ringworm is on your scalp or in many different places on your body OTC treatment may not be enough. An antifungal drug that you’ll have to take by mouth for 1 to 3 months may be prescribed!
