Many causes: Usually is the articular cartilage in your age. Can work on quad and hamstring strengthening. If no response meds , bracing, weight loss , pt. Need ortho eval. With xrays and maybe further testing to determine source of pain.

See a specialist.: If you have seen several doctors for persistent knee pain without a diagnosis, it is better to discuss your symptoms with a joint specialist to get another opinion. Your primary care doctor should be able to refer you to a specialist (such as an orthopedist or rheumatologist) to exclude an injury or rheumatic condition. You need a correct diagnosis in order to receive proper treatment.

Not really.: Depends if you are overweight, if you had previously injured your knees, if you have arthritis, and your footwear. But it is not normal.
