Cramping: Intense, intense cramping--like the worst period of your life. This is unlike anything you have experienced before, especially if you're a first time mom. I tell my patients that, generally speaking, if you can talk/speak through a contraction; it's probably not a real labor--as opposed to the false, Braxton-Hicks--contraction.
