Fever, body aches,: a true influenza has sudden onset, true fever (over 38.5 C), severe muscle/body aches, headache, nausea and cough. It also may be accompanied by diarrhea. Usually you feel awful and not able to function. Because the flu weakens you so much, it is common to have a pneumonia soon after the flu in many cases. A cold will rarely have a true fever over 38.5 degrees c.
