Have not mentioned: much history. This is important as it could lead to the cause of pain. If you are still hurting you need to see one now but not urgently. If you are overdoing or running it could be a form of shin splints if on the shin or patellar tendonitis at the insertion Many times it is the exercise or overuse that is the cause. Best wishes
