Depends on the type: of pill and source of sleep issues. is it insomnia due to a medical condition vs. poor sleep hygiene, or problems with movement during sleep, etc. Benzodiazipines and other sleep sedatives (ambien, lunesta) are not typically used longterm for insomnia. Other options exist for longterm use, and cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia is highly effective. Recommend eval with your provider.
