UTI: There are many reasons why some girls get recurrent UTI's. the primary reason is reflux. Most pediatricians will evaluate for reflux after 2 UTI's in girls or 1 in boys. There is nothing wrong with liquid cranberry in children to acidify the urine; however, if this was her first infection I'm really not sure if she is at a higher risk for infection.

Proprietary blends: this has more than just concentrated cranberry and may contain items not safe for children with food allergies (it has pineapple in it as well). Products like this aren't FDA regulated, so its hard to say if all the ingredients are safe. Drinking 100% cranberry juice probably a better idea. Most 5 year olds get UTI's from fecal bacteria. Make sure she is wiping correct and washing hands

Cranberry for uti: planin unsweetened cranberry juice is excellent to help prevent uti. You also can use cranberry extract capsules so you can give a concentrated amount without having to drink so much juice.
