A member asked:

Is it true that cocktail cranberry juice, 100% cranberry juice, helps prevent uti's?

Yes and no: Cranberry juice has been shown in multiple studies to lower one's risk of uti. It follows that the more actual cranberry is in the juice, he better the product would be at prevention. Cranberry juice "cocktail" is actually pretty dilute - usually <10% juice. Go for products with high cranberry content ("100% juice"). Hope this helps!

Agree w Dr Tillet: Go w 100% juice not cocktail. Cranberry juice can help to prevent urinary tract infections (UTI's) in women with recurrent UTI's because of the proanthyocyanidins (PACs) it contains.
