See Your Dentist: it sounds like the tooth has become blocked perhaps with food. The dentist who opened the tooth can clear the blockage and stop the pain

Re-evaluation: You'll have to have the tooth re-evaluated by an endodontist to determine if it is still treatable. After so much time being open, decay may have compromised the integrity of the tooth.
