Mostly self limited: Definition of diarrhea is as increase frequency or decrease consistency of stools. Many causes of diarrhea, mostly self limited , not requiring any treatment other than keep well hydrated. Viruses can cause bothersome liquid stools to last no longer than 5 -7 days, with no fever or blood in stool. Some bacteria require treatment,need stool tests. Food intolerance, medications can cause diarrhea
