No problem at all: Masturbation is entirely normal. It causes no health problems of any kind, including acne. The only exceptions are if very vigorous, causing injury; or if masturbation is so frequent it interferes with life or happiness. No young person should have to live with severe acne. Low cost modern treatment can control it to avoid embarrassment and, most important, prevent scarring. Discuss with a doctor.

No: Dan, I'm really sorry that anybody troubled you over this. It's just a lie intended to frighten you. Enjoying your body is healthy, lets you stay comfortable (you may need it just to get to sleep), and educates you about your mind and body in preparation for becoming a husband and father. It won't make you bald, hairy, short, stupid, unspiritual, or an unfit partner / parent.
