Old Blood: It is most likely old blood from your previous menstrual cycle. This is not uncommon for many women as your uterus, cervix, and/or upper vagina can retain some blood from your last period and while it's there it turns brown and then will eventually leak out, often mid-cycle and cause what you are now experiencing. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.
