Abscess: They may both be right, it is just a matter of timing. Usually infection on the skin starts as a red area called cellulitis an progresses to an abscess sometimes which is a pus collection. You may also have an infected sebaceous cyst and in some instances it is best to cool off with antibiotics and removed later unless an abscess is formed.
