Yes, immediately.: Black stool, especially when slightly loose and rather foul-smelling, often is an indication of internal bleeding of the upper digestive tract. The black stool is digested blood, and it is referred to as melena. Because the bleeding could still be on going, this is considered an emergency. You should go to the nearest emergency room, or call 911 if you are lightheaded. Do not delay. Good luck.
