Corticosteroids: The adrenal glands produce corticosteroids, as commanded by the pituitary gland. When taking a corticosteroid med, the pituitary detects the high level & reduces the signal to the adrenals. After taking corticosteroids long enough, it takes time to ramp up corticosteroid production again, leading to adrenal insufficiency if the corticosteroid med is suddenly stopped. This is not "adrenal fatigue."
