A member asked:

Found "reduced adrenal function" as a side effect of advair diskus (salmeterol and fluticasone).is it same as adrenal fatigue;does it mean acceptance of "adrenal fatigue" concept?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Corticosteroids: The adrenal glands produce corticosteroids, as commanded by the pituitary gland. When taking a corticosteroid med, the pituitary detects the high level & reduces the signal to the adrenals. After taking corticosteroids long enough, it takes time to ramp up corticosteroid production again, leading to adrenal insufficiency if the corticosteroid med is suddenly stopped. This is not "adrenal fatigue."
