Strep Throat: Did you have a rapid strep test? If that was negative and you still have a sore throat, a culture may be necessary to see if is positive. A culture can take up to 48 hours to get a result. White patches are not a sure sign of strep throat. Some viral infections can cause patches also. If you are scared, ask your doctor for a strep culture>
