A Specialist: This is a doctor, trained as a pediatrician. Then further training was obtained in the area of childhood infections. Thus they are specialists in the area of childhood (pediatric) infections.

Specializes in Infectious Disease

Highly educated: A pediatric id specialist is a fully trained board certified pediatrician who then completes 2-3 years of pediatric infectious disease fellowship training. They are then id board eligible and when they pass their boards are id board certified.
