Phlebitis: Phlebitis is inflammation of a vein. itis means inflammation. Phleb means vein. Phlebitis can be from thrombosis (clot), also known as thrombophlebitis. Phlebitis can occur from injury, drugs (birth control pills), stasis or from thrombophilic disorders (genetic), among other causes.
