PTSD: For this, you'd have been exposed to a life threatening or extremely frightening event or series of events. This could have been in your family growing up, or as adult with rapes, crimes, war, earthquakes, etc. Sx. Include: extreme fear; hypervigilance for danger; nightmares; repetitive flashbacks of events; avoidance of reminders; irritability/rage; feeling numb; overwhelming guilt or shame.

PTSD: Dr, pappas provided an excellent summary of ptsd. If you believe that some of those constellation of symptoms fit you, then please seek evaluation by a psychiatrist, psychologist or therapist who is experienced in working with post traumatic stress disorder. Self - diagnosis is often not accurate. If you are being held back by past traumas please get help for this.
