Neuralgia: Sharp,shooting pains like that usually are due to neuralgia which is an irritability/mild inflammation of a superficial scalp nerve. This is more of a nuisance disorder rather than anything serious and generally resolves without any specific treatment. See your physician if symptoms persist or worsen or if frequent headaches develop.
