Is the cervix slightly open during period or does it remain closed?

Unclear question: There is an opening in the cervix through which menstrual blood exits. The opening may be more prominent during periods.

Yes, it has to be: open to allow shedding of the endometrial lining, i.e. menstrual flow, to exit the vaginal cavity. However the opening is commonly quite small.
