What are the risks of keeping a lidoderm patch on for more than 12 hours? my skin doesn't seem to be irritated. i don't understand the problem.

Kinda right: The reason for the 12hr comes from manufacturer because they wanted to minimize the risk of toxicity. (hence minimize lawsuits) However, many of us do tell patients that they can keep it on for 24hrs before changing it. As far as I know there have been no cases of toxicity reported.

Side effects:: Leaving patches on for too long may cause serious side effects like burning, swelling or pain increase in the place you applied the patch. Ask your prescribing physician for more information.
