Deodorant: The most common cause of underarm dry skin is contact irritation from deodorant. Often, this is due to heavy fragrance or alcohol ingredients. Look for a deodorant that has hydrating ingredients such as aloe or vitamins A and E. You can also apply moisturizing lotion. Bathing too frequently with harsh soaps can also be a factor. If there is flaking or redness, low dose steroid cream can be tried.
