Can happen: Oncologist dealw ith cancer and other things related. They may ask you to let your primary care physician order that test.

Here's why:: Your oncologist doesn't want to be in the position of explaining your result to you or being asked if an elevation needs to be treated or a medicine added or dose changed. That's not his/her specialty. Whoever orders the test is responsible for handling the results. As a cardiologist, I'm not comfortable ordering cancer marker tests. Please try to understand.

Not fair: I do not thing that was fair he could easy order the test, this way the patient did not have to have be stuck twice. nobody asking the cancer doctor to become the cholesterol doctor, the patient will still get advised from her PCP for treatment plan. .I am surgeon, and I order all kind of tests on my patient and send the results to the PCP for instructions. sorry I apologize on their behalf.
