Imaging: I do not know of a single X-ray of the sinuses and throat, though the areas could be imaged with several separate X-rays. Plain X-rays tend to be less specific in diagnosing particular issues than CT scans, which could actually encompass both areas. Inflammation is a tissue reaction, most commonly in response to infection or trauma. On a plain X-ray, it would manifest itself as tissue thickening.
