Hypertension...: Hypertension is the fancy word for high blood pressure and atherosclerotic heart disease is hardening of the arteries in your heart or the process where those heart arteries get clogged up potentially leading to a heart attack.

Different: Hypertensive is damage from high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy. Atherosclerotic disease can occur in non hypertensives as well as with hypertension. Atherosclerosis is deposits of plaque in the vascular system which can progress to, significant narrowing or obstruction causing ischemia or heart attacks or peripheral obstruction issues.
