A member asked:

Can whisky is bad for a heart patient or it has got some good effects on heart ?

Alcohol: Alcohol is a cardiac toxin in more than very small doses. We generally don't recommend alcohol for patients with heart abnormalities. If a patient is an alcoholic and having withdrawal symptoms coincident with some acute cardiac problem, might consider some alcohol to blunt the withdrawal.
