Alcohol: Alcohol is a cardiac toxin in more than very small doses. We generally don't recommend alcohol for patients with heart abnormalities. If a patient is an alcoholic and having withdrawal symptoms coincident with some acute cardiac problem, might consider some alcohol to blunt the withdrawal.
