A member asked:

About 22 hours ago i had a lower molar pulled (#30), this morning i've noticed that the blood clot looks smaller and there is some white/yellowish stuff around the inside of the extraction. i heard this could be granulation tissue, but would it form this

Salt water gargles: will help prevent infection and encourage healing after a tooth extraction. Granulation tissue, which is part of the natural healing process, can look concerning to the untrained eye. Surrounding redness and/or worsening pain are common signs of infection.

Extraction: You seem to be healing fine. Any severe pain or swelling? If not, have a wonderful holiday weekend!

It is normal: The main goal after extraction is for a solid blood clot to form and stay in place. Should any unusual symptoms occur or if you have any questions please call your dental office.

Extraction site: Sounds like normal healing, but if you are concerned you should call the surgeon and ask if he/she thinks you should be reevaluated. Important that you make arrangements to replace the missing tooth to prevent what Dentist's call "Posterior bite collapse." Make an appointment with your Dentist to discuss Rx.
