With chronic pain medications should your liver be checked by a test?

Yes: All medications are either processed through the liver or the kidneys. Anyone taking medications chronically should have these organs checked regularly. The liver can be tested through a simple blood test; kidneys are checked with both a blood test and urine test.

Check Kidneys too.: All medications have the potential for causing side effects. Most don't and most people do fine with most medications. But some people are sensitive to certain meds and underlying conditions sometime don't handle some types of meds. Have your kidneys, liver and blood counts all checked. Your doctor will know what to look for.
