You need an exam .: Bleeding from the rectum may be caused by many things. Anal, rectal or colon cancer may show up as bleeding. Just because the bleeding stops does not mean that everything is ok; you should still be examined properly.

No: Most commonly people have hemorrhoids. However almost everyone with anal cancer thinks their bleeding is from hemorrhoids. You need an rectal exam and proctoscopy to make sure it's not anal cancer. Some risk factors would be history of regular anal sex or hpv virus or anal or genital warts. Even without these an exam is needed.
