No worries: Transfer of HSV to a new site (autoinoculation) sometimes occurs during an initial HSV infection, but almost never with longstanding infections. With oral herpes more than 3 mo, the risk is near zero. Don't push your luck: during an oral HSV1 outbreak, wash hands frequently and avoid rubbing your eyes and vigorous genital contact (e.g. scratching). But even if you forget, very little risk.
