How to Bear a Tear: A tear of the disc lining (or annulus fibrosis) may result in herniation of disc material and nerve compression. Pain can be controlled in many ways and the disc can be rehabilitated. A discussion with a therapist or chiropractor can be helpful. Surgery is often a last resort. Newer laser therapies and micro-discectomies have also done wonders to encourage healing and improve pain.
