Soon: If he has progressive weakness, or changes in his bowel or bladder function, then he must go to the emergency room or go see a spine surgeon immediately. If he simply has increased pain that is manageable without weakness, then he can call his spine surgeon or spinal specialist and get scheduled to be evaluated in next few days.
