Uterine "purge": The uterus is emptying everything from the pregnancy out a this time. That includes blood, debris, and gestation tissue remnants. The bleeding should eventually slow down in 1 to 2 weeks. If it is bright red, call your OB now and make an appointment as the bleeding may be due to retained placental tissue.
