A member asked:

How is it that one can take medicines for diabetes all life long?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Long term problem: Some people with type 2 diabetes can get off of medication after weight loss and substantial changes in diet, exercise, and lifestyle. However, diabetes is a long term disorder, and there are genetic factors that put a person at risk that he has no control over. So, long term medical care and following both dietary, lifestyle and medication recommendations from your doctor are important.
