Omphalitis: This is most common among men with hairy skin on abdomen and deep navel (persistent urachus) with hair trapped in the navel by tiny barbs on sides of hairs and a pilar sinus. There are other explanations. Most DRs have no experience with this. Try a GYN or surgeon. Insist that the DR read up on omphalitis.
