Haven't been running for a while, but after a long run today my knee is hurting. what should i do for the pain not to become permanent?

See below: overuse or joint overloading can cause pain. watch for training errors ie infrequent footwear changes running un firm surfaces. as an example running on grass better tolerated than concrete or asphalt. also consider cross training in lower impact activities
