A member asked:

Does nicotine / continine from smokeless tobacco stay in system longer than cigarette nicotine / continine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Drug metabolism: The same drug levels obtained via smokeless or smoking would be metabolized by the body at a similar rate. Differences in absorption and thus dosage may influence how long drug levels persist. Also, the mixture of drug and other metabolites may influence how long they persist. Tobacco companies have not released the dose-response data to compare these readily.
