Some thoughts: If you have NEVER had anal sex before, I would think it would be common to have pain after the first time. And I would imagine that pain would gradually go away by the next day or so. Be sure you use lubricant to protect your rectal tissues from being injured; small tears can increase your risk of picking up infections. Naturally, stop if you feel you are being harmed.

Depends: This depends upon how traumatized the anorectal area was during intercourse. Cause for concern would be worsening discomfort,rectal bleeding,severe pain on defecation,abdominal discomfort or fever and chills. Your partner's technique sounded too rough and maybe not enough lubrication was used.
