Dr. Sandra Lora Cremers answered

Specializes in Ophthalmology

Reading glasses: Most people need reading glasses around 40yo depending on the length of your eyeball (if long & thus myopic the age can be pushed back to late 40's or more if very myopic: in essence you have the power for reading built into your eye). The power for reading glasses (ie +1.00-+4.00 ) can increase with age & depends on many factors (ie, distance you hold book). No harm to eye if strong readers used.
