HPV vaccines: Gardasil was the 1st vaccine, it is quadivalent made by Merck, approved for male & females age 9 to 26. Cervarix is more recent made by Galaxy smithklien, it is bivalent, approved for females only age 9 to 26. Both are effective. Good luck

Protection: Cervarix as developed helps your body develop immune protection from the 2 strains of HPV associated most often with cervical and other cancers. The first Gardasil does this and adds protection from 2 strains that trigger genital warts. The newest Gardasil(9) adds 5 more strains involved in lesser numbers of cancers.
