Get it checked: We do not want to miss serious disease of the esophagus. This is most likely reflux, perhaps with a hiatus hernia, but if it is new and is lasting more than two weeks, it will be for your physician to decide whether to endoscope you. We don't want to miss a treatable malignancy. Good luck!

See your doc: Get checked. Could be due to inflamed esophagus, stomach, ulcer, gallbladder, other. Like the bottle says, don't take Omeprazole otc for more than 2 weeks (without getting seen and checked by your doc). Don't self diagnose, don't self treat.
